In the beginning

10 July 2012, 15:45

In the beginning, there was a simple but much abused by the SAPS firearm law. It was unjustified and a waste of valuable police time but governments want to feel safe from angry free citizens they have angered and firearm organisations who do not understand their duty to all citizens and abdicate it had accepted this incursion of human rights.

Then we had the FCA, a collusion between the gun control alliance and government. Secret meetings, office space at Safety and Security, a tender award to MRC and the agreed to propaganda based on the resulting research for the introduction of the FCA. The secret undisclosed government and SAPS discussions, many secret documents including the parliamentary policy, a national secret.

There are not five legal minds in the world who understand the FCA or can interpret it.

At no point in time were firearm owners consulted. Any government claim to consultation is a lie fabricated on lip service of meetings after the fact which began with the words “The policy of the Act is not open to discussion”. That is consultation only in governments mind.

The simple fact there is no acceptable evidence anywhere in the word that shows gun control of any description serves any useful purpose has escaped even firearm organisations and firearm owners attention. They have no excuse for not knowing and educating all others.

Firearm owners rightfully with full justification objected in their many thousand. 380,000 signed a petition, 2000 made submissions on the first draft. The submissions lay on a table never even opened or read. The petitions delivered in eight wheel barrow loads were never accepted by government officials and rejected out of hand.

Governments stance has not changed since SAGA officials were thrown out of the Minister of Safety and securities office and told “We know what you want to say and are not interested.”

At what point in time do firearm owners and organisations realise that the better nature of government cannot be appealed to? When will firearm organisations realise that petitions, submissions and logical argument is only a piece of paper to government and the only currency of politics is power, not paper or sound logical argument.

If there is any power behind any of these it is not going to take no for an answer. Can rights just be sacrificed because of one failure or does one keep trying as those rights are valuable and dear to you? When government calls your bluff you have no other choice but to show the power behind and seriousness of your request. Trade unions certainly understand this so what is wrong with firearm organisations?  For what possible reason would the ANC have given up and capitulated after the first government rejection?

Firearm organisations bluff was called and these organisations instead of flexing their muscle and showing the power they had stuck their tails between their legs and begged for mercy claiming they would collaborate. Then to justify this cowardice they claimed it was impossible, nothing we can do. We did the best we can you must accept gun control, unjustified, unwarranted and oppressive laws and make the best of it you can. You must comply, it is the law. They have done this throughout history everywhere in the world, sacrificed the very rights they claim to protect and hold so dear.

The sacrifices of firearm owners began. The intimidation of firearm owners by the SAPS and government began. The message government wanted was loud and clear, comply or we will get you one way or the other. Firearm organisations said nothing and did nothing but agree with government.

SAGA, SAHunters and collectors claimed those who had been robbed by a bad and retrospective law of their property deserved this and they would do nothing. Comply they said we can live with the FCA. Now it is claimed by all firearm organisations that there is nothing wrong with the FCA only the implementation is flawed and all firearm owners are quivering and shaking hiding under a rock pretending to be invisible after what the Ministers assistant Jennifer Irish-Qhobosheane described as a reign of terror from the SAPS.

What happened to those 380,000 who signed a petition and the 2000 who made submissions? Who disillusioned them. Who took their courage and anger and turned it into submission. Who sold them out? Who sacrificed 700,000 firearm owners and said not one word? Who removed all hope and faith of achieving anything? Who said you are on your own we will not help in your hour of need? Who said if you do not comply you are irresponsible and we will not help you?

I certainly hope not one person reading this has paid any firearm organisation a single cent in order to get that. I hope no organisation has the support of any thinking firearm owner in order to achieve results like that. I certainly hope no firearm owner elects such organisations disgusting and disgraceful management.

No person I know will stand and watch somebody steal the valve caps off his vehicle tyres. So why are the same people standing and watching as government steals their rights, property and dignity. Why? Their rights have no value to them. Why do they still hope those who sold them out will do something now?
