Now for the catch – only the oldest living child to any mother must qualify for the social grant. Any subsequent children do NOT qualify. Almost like the Chinese who increase taxes for everyone who has more than one child.
I’d also really like government to do a study on how many teenage mothers are receiving social grants – while their own mothers are still receiving social grants for the teenage mothers! It’s a crazy world we live in...
Our current population growth is completely unsustainable and is only going to lead to more poverty and greater unemployment rates. At some stage things ARE going to come crashing down (what MEC will still support the social grant when they have to start downgrading their Merc/BMW to a Hyundai!) It’s going to happen. The only question is WHEN. Probably still in my lifetime...
