Please don"t get me wrong. I'm all for tradition and other related issues. But don't murder the nations young men in the name of tradition.
You watch an MEC of Mpumalanga on national TV telling the us that the reason she cannot intervene in this massacre is that she is a woman. How ridiculous, to say the least. She must resign. Does this utterance show us that there is no political will to stop this carnage. What are they saying to the parents of all the deceased boys for all this years since the government of the people took over(19yrs). Its a crying shame.
Because I respect tradition. I have an idea.
Let the circumcision take place in a public hospitalfor free. This will be under clean conditions with trained physicians and maybe male nurses. Then when the boys are healed, take them to these schools to be taught whatever the tradition requires, if really it is so important.
On the other hand what makes the initiates better men or people in the society? when they come from the mountain, with due respect.
Come on South Africa, this is a disaster that needs the same attention as the CAR and the Guptagate issues or even Marikana. Somebody must be accountable for this mess.
With the Youth Day around the corner, lets get moving. Our male youth are being decimated under the guise of tradition.
