There is an incredible pressure for businesses to have internet presence. It helps businesses to capture the sector of potential clients that are looking for products and services online. But is it really important?
Like in any business numbers talk. The traffic, the cost, the return on investment. Those are the things that any business should look into.
The traffic. It is vitally important, especially for those businesses that are looking into entering the internet arena for the first time and those who are looking to improve their positioning on internet. The easiest and usually the cheapest way to take advantage is to associate your business with a portal or a webpage that already has the massive traffic running through it. So check the numbers.
The cost. Going with the first well-dressed sales representative is not the solution. My tip is : see couple of service providers, see what their offer is. See what they will “give” you for your cash. My biggest issue always is if people will actually click on the portal how many other competitors in my field will appear in the same space as me, where my business will be placed, is my business going to be right there in the most visible spot or simply is it going to be pushed to the bottom as the big companies already bought out all the most visible spots.
The ROI (return on investment). This does not always should be decided on basis on sales, even though this is vitally important too. But maybe you should be comparing the actual value for service.
I feel that we have been brain washed that internet is this mystical, complicated beast that only selected few are allowed into the sphere of the ones that know, and we allow them to charge us the exuberant sums of money.
