Recently comments made by Deputy Agriculture Minister Pieter, ignited heated debates in Parliament. Further fuelling the burning question of our African history and which race is the actual sol proprietor of this land. Mulder stated that Bantu speaking people have no historic claim of land in this country, especially land in the Western Cape.
So who really owns this land? The answers differ from race to race, but feel free to use your own discretion in quenching mankind’s thirst for answers. Drought stricken minds tend to be flooded with baseless, bias assumptions and such minds project thoughts before thinking rationally. In each race such Homo sapiens minds are evident, Homo sapiens; in relation to their primitive way of thinking. It’s baffling how the issue of land reform and our history is still up for debate in the 21st century...so the reconciliation hand shakes in 1994 were merely a fictitious arms deal? History is imperative; it shapes the future of things to come, but now we use history to mould hatred and segregation.
Apartheid is a wound that some of us keep scratching on; the bandages of reconciliation have been removed, through our actions of clawing deep into the pains of the past...will we ever heal? My discretion on the matter is that we merely tenants on this land, our creator is the landlord. Man has a lustful urge for pointing fingers...lust, which outweighs the love we should be having for one another.
Picture the following scenario occurring in the 21st century; me dressed in animal skin and armed with an assegai, paying my neighbour Thom a visit, to exercise my right of land reform.
R.Phiri: Afternoon Dave.
Dave: How you R.Phiri?
R.Phiri: Well in a few moments I will be fine, after you hand over your property that is rightfully mine.
Dave: What do you mean?
R.Phiri: Land reform...I’m sure you know what that means. By 4pm you should evacuate my property, there’s a boat heading for England, waiting for you at the Cape harbour.
Threaten by my assegai, by now Dave has no choice but to contact the police. Let’s take a look at the following scenario...
Dave: Thank God you came...I have approximately 3 hours before my neighbour returns.
Police Man: As you can see I am a white cop...Capable of jotting down complaints without mistakes or broken English. Give me a description of the suspect.
Dave: My neighbour is black and his...
Police Man: Black and greedy...that’s all the information I need...my job is done here.
Dave: But I’m not finished with the description.
Police Man: Of course you are, black simply means criminal...with the introduction of tenderpreneurship, and the term has been redefined to black and greedy.
The Chinese have Jackie Chan, that’s why South Africans wouldn’t even dare try land reform there...the Americans have Chuck Norris...I think that’s self explanatory.
Is God to blame for continental drift that segregated countries apart...was this a racial move to divide humanity according to race? This ridiculous assumption will become reality, when mankind run out of people to blame. The issue of land reform is of sensitive nature, we mere tenants on this earth, mere tenants. Ironically our national anthem states the following “In South Africa OUR land”...Do you notice an “I” in this sentence? Evolution will never reach its peak if man keeps moving backwards, to the point where the term banana republic is redefined in reality by the ape like creatures we will become. Let’s write history in ink that favours no particular colour.
Acceptance of one another is key to reconciliation.
