Is Idols SA still Racist?

02 October 2012, 14:02

“L’loyd ( 2010, the runner-up) should have won. Finish and klaar!” these were the famous words of Mara Louw after Elvis Blue won with almost double the number of votes compared to Lloyd.

2012 are we going to see the same thing happening?

We all want Khaya Mthethwa to win. Mostly Black South African subscribers because for the first time a South African Idol winner will be black; If Khaya wins.

But that is a dream even in 2010 we shared along with the IdolsSA judges.

Then judge Gareth Cliff also ignited a storm during the competition when he openly predicted that a black person would win 2010’s Idols. But that never happened.

DStv has a 3.981 million subscriber base with 45% of those subscribers on Premium and 30% on Compact.[25% other].

Most South African blacks subscribe to Compact while whites are on Premium. Don’t call me racist but we all know the voting behaviour of DStv subscribers. Mara Louw in 2010 said that voting behaviour proves “South Africa is still full of racist”.

Few hours from now a winner will be announced but I’m haunted by Mara’s words

“The competition is full of racism and South Africa could only produce a black Idol if M-Net sold the competition to the SABC”

“Blacks do not have access to DStv. This excludes a sizeable chunk of South Africans from the competition. Whites votes for whites and blacks are disadvantaged,”

I can only speculate.

Khaya might win Idols this year because the show is both on Mnet and Mzantsi channel.

The producers of the show have seen the hype around Khaya. I don’t believe that producers dont really have power over the votes.

They want more black subscribers. They want to make blacks happy and because of that they have to do what Blacks want and that is making Khaya win.

Even if that “goat-girl” Melissa wins with by votes. The producers will have to step in and make Khaya Win….to prove that the Show is not for whites therefore not Racist

I am not RACIST, I’m a Realist I speak the truth and I hate being “political correct”
