Is it difficult to judge?

14 December 2012, 07:03

I observe discussions here, at http://www.news24.com/MyNews24 with great pleasure. It’s a great opportunity to research the way that human mind wanders.

Discussions about politics I find pretty boring, because during feverish debates people tend to miss aesthetic quality of this domain of human activity. Why don’t we treat politicians the same way we treat artists? In terms of exhibition surface, there are not many artists that have whole country serving as a gallery.

Religious debates provide different kind of excitement as there are big emotions involved. When one actions are fuelled by emotion the outcome is different, depends if it is love, curiosity, despair or longing for something. My last read on this topic was The Contrarian’s letter available here http://www.news24.com/MyNews24/Re-The-reason-I-believe-in-a-god-20121212 , very interesting, indeed. I tried to dispute following passage from his letter:

“No thinking person could agree that we can all just believe what we want to believe. What a preposterous notion of fairness this is. It is exactly because people believe what they want as opposed to the reality staring them in the face that the human race is in the dilemma it finds itself in”

by simple statement: We can all just believe what we want, it happens when one values and has respect for own opinion. But to make it happen one should have any opinion first. Unfortunately, my spick-and-span comment under his letter went unnoticed by the universe because it was deleted.

As I respect the right of the editor to not to publish comments that don’t fit the editor’s policy, so I clicked http://www.news24.com/MyNews24/YourStory/News24s-Comments-Policy-20101109 to discover following criteria of deleting posts.

1. The relevance of the comment to the topic
2. The extent to which other users will understand what has been said
3. The extent of swear words, the degree of insulting language and severity of the tone of the comment towards either a group of people or an individual
4. News24 Users who abuse the comments facility by posting under existing aliases or who post simply to incite arguments on the board

5. Spam posts such as advertisements’ as comments we will disabled on the site
6. Duplication of comments

I would like to know which principle was undermined by my humble comment? I would appreciate editor’s explanation. If not, I would like the above principles to serve as a poll for public to answer my question. Please, help me understand. Have a nice weekend all of you.
