If the government decides to get serious on crime, realise that they don't have a clue, and in desperation, call you and give you Carte Blanche, please sire, tell us how you would solve this scourge.
While on holiday in the Comores some years ago, I was facinated to learn that they have an old tree, probably a baobab, which has died and left a hollow stump. If you are naughty, you are dumped in the hollow, and left there without food or water for 3 days. No worries about human rights or prisoners privilidges, just sit and think about your sins. Apparently, there are very few who visit the tree for a second time, and escape is not an option, unless you can swim for a very long time. An interesting way to deal with a problem. How can we deal with our local crime burden?
