Is this a policy or is about popularity of politicians?

06 March 2014, 09:00

The Gautrain is heading to Soweto, Mamelodi

The Minister of Transport (Dipuo Peters), is saying that they are building new railway routes with regard to the Gautrain. To start with, Gauteng Province is made up of 6 Regions that is Tswane, Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, Sedibeng, Metsweding and West Rand. Out of that, three are Metros and the remaining three are District Municipalities.

She further states that out of Billions of rands that were invested in Gautrain, only 50 000 (estimated) are using the service. She is stating also that new railway routs are on the plan to cater for Soweto and Mamelodi residents.

This two Metros are already enjoying the benefits of Metropolitan Buses and Rea Vaya services at the billed at a lowest cost and the rest of Gauteng population must use unsubsidised transport modes to commute between their homes and their place of work. Those who uses their own transport as there is no safe, reliable and affordable transport, the Government is putting obstacle in the form of E-Tolls.

I think our government need to think again, we need the same right that has been afforded the people of Soweto and Mamelodi. We still pay the same rate of taxes that those people are paying and we have the same blood as of those people.

This Policy need to be reviewed and it also has to factor all people without exclusion and race. The South African Constitution states that all people are equal, so therefore, the government must take note of the Constitution and deliver goods and services without faviouring a particular grouping.

I am making this call to the Minister of Transport to deliver the services to all South Africa without any faviours or fear.
