Have you ever tried to cancel a tv license. For most people it is impossible.
Why impossible?
Well, according to the SABC, this is what you must do when you no longer have a tv.
Q: When is a TV licence no longer required? What must one do to cancel a licence?
A: When one has sold or otherwise disposed of one's television set(s) a TV licence is no longer required. The SABC must be notified on a prescribed form (affidavit) of the changed circumstances. No licence is cancelled while moneys are still outstanding on an account.
It seems easy enough, so what is the problem?
The problem is that the "prescribed form" does not exist. There is no such form on any of the SABC web pages.
Nobody knows where to get the prescribed form.
So, if you do not fill in the "prescribed form", sorry, they cannot take you off their database.
Furthermore, nobody answers any email sent through

To see that this is true, have a look at

If you do the following...
1. Ask the tv inspectors to come around and check that you have no tv
2. Tell them to give you a written confirmation that they will not send you a new account for next year
3. That you will pay once they have given you the written confirmation..
They say..."no can do hombre...we do not give guarantees"..which means once you are on, you are on.
It seems that you need to be well connected before you can be taken off.
