Isn’t it time the rest of South Africa stepped up to the plate and stopped this madness
Our country and economy are being held ransom by a handful of individuals. People of South Africa everything we cherish, everything we love and hope for, not only for ourselves but for our children as well is about to die in a Tsunami of blatant anarchy.
The world is in a recession, globally companies are taking strain, I personally I am just happy I have a job. We have not received salary increases for 3 years because of the global downturn. In hope of riding out the recession storm. However this storm is going to be round a bit longer still. So everyone should try to see the bigger picture.
The actions of these striking workers will have a knock on effect of withdrawal of foreign investment and investor confidence, and then the rand will plummet.
Petrol and food prices will soar, that will affect all of us. Do we sit back and allow this. Do we watch foreign investment bleed out till we are no better than other aid seeking African countries?
Do we allow this government to sit in silence and watch it happen for fear of losing votes?
What will it all matter when there is no economy to run, no discipline in the workforce, and no forex to speak of. Will it matter to them? Will we wish we could turn back time and save the country?
Normal wage negotiations channels need to be followed, reasonable demands need to made in light of the world economic downturn.
Ultimately I think it is better to be able feed your children than sit and wait for a handout. There are many millions who are willing to work for the salaries these workers are striking about. Let the unemployed get a chance to earn money again.
I personally salute the actions of Anglo Plats. Thank you for taking a stand to protect the very fiber of this country. The only home we all really know.
Come on South Africa, take a stand, we are millions against a few that seek to destroy everything.
Let us continue to let Mandela’s dream live!
