It is us who can free ourselves.

07 May 2014, 11:30

By: Sivuyile S. Sesi- ( www.756writing.yolasite.com)

If Agang SA was (just) a platform it should have found a way to work with Democratic Alliance (DA). Agang's aim was to change people's views on what is it a political solution and political power and will. Most people when you suggest what we need in that they very much think of their political parties than their own will. So their political parties determine for them and that's it. With that Mamphela Ramphele said that she wants to end the representational system for parliament so that it can be accountable to everyone. This will play a role to free the potential of freedom. Individuals will openly chose their leaders and be accountable to all of us than their party. People like her and Desmond Tutu who endorse her have a long history of not really belonging to any party. Now we proud of them on their role in the liberation struggle.

Ramphele declined an opportunity to be DA's 2014 presidential candidate. Realistically about the bargain for Agang leader if it was 2019 elections, she would have taken the opportunity. It would have been a more promising opportunity than now. She knows people need her, she is not the only leader that we are sure of competence to have entered politics yet this out going administration didn't do well for the nation. We have done well before, in this democracy. Our politics to expand and be open they need to really change for the many who still are seeking on political belonging than political solutions. It should be about the best interest of the people. What we need. It is best for us that resourceful individuals organize at our rescue. It is no one but us who can better our political situation.

As she might be wanting to restore the promise of freedom, finding importance on the political freedom people gained since 1994, its 20 years of democracy, meaning we should with the born frees eligible to vote for the first time, again find value in its power and take these elections serious.

For our lives to improve from condition to condition as a nation we should make the right political decisions. Our leaders will take it from us to know why they in those positions.

Many young people like the African National Congress Youth League now also Economic Freedom Fighters find political power useless in clear terms. Like political power, the economic empowerment is not easy in practice. It still needs people to be informed and be willing to work hard. For the potential of our freedom to expand meaningfully for the nation it needs more involvement from the people.

In this 20 years of democracy for Ramphele, she wants to keep her new party part of it. She want to work hard. Agang and DA found her the right candidate for their parties. Because of her competence and skill they found her a suitable person to lead the country. Ever since she came back from being world bank executive, Helen Zille had been pursuing her to join DA. Someone from the Western Cape who might have been impressed with the Ramphele and DA partnership might be wanting to split the votes for these parties.

She reached climax in her career. She lived a life that every young person dream of. She is a role model. As a leader that's how she will gain support. Infact that's why DA wants her too. In truth we should be proud of what she managed to do for this country. We had good public servants like Trevor Manuel, Thabo Mbeki, Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka, Patricia de Lille, Helen Zille. They made the political power entrusted on them good for us. They played their part, we achieved.

We are free as a country when we decide what we want and get it, its not easy, it needs hard work. We know what's best for us and for that let's make good decisions when choosing our leaders.
