Bible Study : The return of Jesus.
Luke 9:27 "Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God."
Matthew 10:23 "When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes."
Matthew 23:36 " Truly I tell you, all this will come on this generation"
John 21:22 "Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”"
1 John 2:18 "Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour."
It was believed my many of Christ's contemporaries that he would return in their lifetime, Jesus himself stated on more than one occasion that he would return within the lifetime of the generation that stood before him. In Luke 9:27 Jesus tells the people standing in his audience that they would not yet be dead before his return.
In Matthew 10:23 Jesus tells his disciple that he will return before they have spread the word to all the cities of Israel, Further more he tells the crowd in Matthew 23:26 That their generation shall see all of this occurring.
He hints to John the Baptist that he would still be alive when Jesus returned in John 21:22
John the Disciple was convinced that Jesus would return in his life time, so much so that he saw devils crawling in the woodwork and was preaching the last hour 2000 or so years ago. He was not alone. Paul and James made similar threats to their flocks.
How many 2000 year old people are there running around this earth? Every single person in Jesus Congregation died before his return, as did John the Baptist, John, Paul and James also kicked the bucket, before Jesus returned.
Deuteronomy 18:20 "But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.”
Deuteronomy 18:21 "You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?”"
Deuteronomy 18:22 "If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed."
Jesus was crucified and I believe this was his biblical punishment for being a false prophet as Commanded by God in Deuteronomy. How do we know he was a false prophet? It's easy Deuteronomy tells us how to divine a false prophet in 18:22.
Jesus lied, therefore he is a false prophet and deserved to die.
