Well what can we say? As expected the new-bloods, the mighty Super Kings silenced all their critics on Saturday night with an emphatic win over seasoned Super Rugby veterans, the Western Force.
What was also fitting for me all knowledgeable sports enthusiasts alike, was the two brilliant tries from Sergeal Peterson, confirming the rich black rugby talent in the region. I'm sure that the supporting sports bodies and political bigwigs now feel vindicated by their intelligent decision to boot the Lions and give real rugby a chance to flourish again.
After almost two decades of Super Rugby exposure, and only a handful of scrappy wins to show for their lackluster efforts, we can all agree that the Lions have had their time. It's now time for Eastern Cape rugby to rise and regain its former glory and show the other teams now it's done.
After all the negative comments on these forums about how everyone would be supporting any team that played against the Kings (very childish btw), it was wonderful so see the Kings rise to the challenge and silence the scornful voices of all the haters.
It's not fair that the Kings are only being given one year in which to prove themselves, while the other unions have had 16 or so years already. Give the Kings a few more years and they'll be South Africa's leading Super Rugby franchise.
But, already the Super Kings are off to a flying start, rubbing egg in the faces of their critics, with no previous Super Rugby experience.
Already the Kings are better than the Lions.
