The ingenuity of some to find excuses for the unreliability of the source documents on which they base their belief systems is almost breathtaking.
To claim (as some do) that people 3000-5000 years ago were too uneducated/unknowledgeable to allow a proper honest description of objective reality is almost the pinnacle of desperation to justify the inaccuracies in the bible.
The truth is that it has nothing to do with education levels or the availability of knowledge that the bible is such a poor reflection of reality.
A lack of education or the lack of knowledge is not an excuse for lying to people, whether the lying is by way of the bible or some other medium. It is a dishonest strategy. And it is costing the divine hand allegedly behind it a lot of support.
The arguments around the bible and the polemics have been around since the earliest times. It is only now with the easy and instantaneous availability of knowledge and communication that we can really get talking. No need to spend hours in libraries - some of us actually did when we started asking ourselves serious questions - or to be reliant on the clergy for their opinions. So, what was the purpose of tailoring the bible to fit in with our (then) uneducated and unknowledgeable condition? What usual nonsense!
If you think about it, the errors in the bible have actually increased the unease with many believers. No benefit whatsoever to modern, informed people. So, was it written then with modernity being deliberately left out of the total equation? Let the modern man suffer as a result provided the uneducated and the ignoramuses of yesteryear are catered for?
So god allowed evidence contrary to the bible's claims of a young earth for example lying around to be discovered later. What for? So many even Chistian inclined followers should doubt the bible's version(S) of events?
Another nonsense excusesome bible punchers hide behind when confronted with reality exposed!
