Lack of leadership in Palestine

17 July 2014, 13:22

The issues Palestine face is purely due to a lack of leadership.  They are fighting an enemy with superior fire power and artillery. Going toe to toe with Israel is a waste of time.  So why continue with a pointless and futile strategy?

Hamas knows exactly what they are doing; fire rockets out of civilian lines knowing Israel’s offensive will take out civilians and in the process creating sympathy and painting Israel in a bad light. That is their game plan and a very weak one at that. Shame on you Hamas!

Between Hamas and Fatah, there is no real leadership. It does not help that not too long ago these two groups were at each other’s throats for control. There have been too many negotiation breakdowns and breaches of agreements on both sides. In order to achieve future and lasting stability, a leader with influence and vision must come from within. Such a leader has to build influence with the role players. Similar to how it works in business. You do not have to sell out your beliefs and convictions. Surely at some point in time a credible leader with backbone will come forward.

Remember apartheid South Africa?  The way to peace was not through violence but rather diplomacy. The atrocities in the Middle East are far worse than what Apartheid dished out but the principles are the same.  The years of fighting far outweighed the amount of months of diplomacy. Added to that was a very influential leader in the late great Nelson Mandela.  We all know what was install for us had we have any other leader than Mandela to pave the way.

As for Israel, shame on you for creating an Apartheid State and having that amount of blood on your hands.  Israel is playing politics by entering into cease fire agreements with no Palestinian representation. You know full well they will not agree to anything on those terms.

Finally, Mr Obama, what is your stance on the Native Indians taking back their land? Why have you imposed sanctions on Putin for their “landgrab?” Tony Abbott; will you support an Aborigine cause in taking their land back?
