You are running a small business. Your medium-term plan is to grow your business so that you can achieve your long-term goal of being one of the major competitors in a certain local market. I think this is a standard (albeit simplified) aspiration many business owners have. Would you hire someone who has striked in the past to help you achieve these goals?
Come on, who is brave enough? Well, not me.
Because if someone strikes, they are showing me (as a potential employer), that they have a serious lack of ambition, and that they are not resourceful. The fact that they haven't looked for a better paying job, or haven't tried to improve themselves when they couldn't find one by means of a bit of library time just shows me that they do not have the personal motivation needed to help me reach my goals - really the only reason an employer would hire anyone.
As they say in Afrikaans, "as jy dom is moet jy..."
<soapbox>I'm tired of living in a country held hostage by idiotic people. I am sure you are too. Because they make life exceedingly unpleasant, expensive and generally miserable. It's time those with a little bit of intellect put their collective foot down, and how the lazy and inept how things are done. </soapbox>
