Dear Editor,
If people choose to leave SA for good, then be gone. Don't claim to be a South African displaced by circumstance or whatever.
Be whoever you have chosen to be - Australian, Kiwi, British, or whatever. Be proud of your new nationality and leave those of us who choose to stay to be proud of our nationality.
I am not interested in your reasons for leaving or how wonderful you think your new country is.
Just as you are not interested in my reasons for staying and how wonderful I think South Africa is.
You will not convince me to leave and I will not convince you to return.
Why is it that so many expats feel the need to justify their decisions to leave and try to get me to agree that they are right?
I respect that you might feel that way but I don't have to agree with you. Respect my right to feel differently.
Please note that this is not directed at all expats - just those who only have bad things to say.
Proudly SA
