Dear Editor,
I was so sad when I saw Joost on TV last night. As a rugby enthusiast, I had countless enjoyable weekends watching this world-class scrum-half play.
He made my life a little bit easier to endure. This hero of mine looked depressed when he should have been reaping the fruits of his rugby career.
I am a man, a husband and a father. I will admit that men have sexual urges. To some women, having intimate relations with a sporting legend is a trophy! On top of it he is handsome to many ladies and even some men.
He was young and in demand at every major function and social event. The constant demands on him caused him to fail.
Most men in my circle have cheated on their wives and girlfriends. Testosterone surges occur every 30 minutes through our bodies and some of us cannot control it when temptation comes.
I forgive Joost because I understand the male animal. I do not condone cheating, binge drinking and drug use, but I am not an angel.
To keep my marriage solid after 25 years I had to subdue the animal in me and increase my respect and love for my wife and kids.
So far that decision has paid dividends because my wife adores me.
I saw the tears on Amor's face and it touched a raw nerve. I nearly had a failed marriage because I also did not communicate properly with my spouse.
Thank God that I could fix my problems. I pray for Joost, Amor and the kids and hope their ships are freed from this rocky shore.
Let's give them space to heal.
