Dear Editor,

For all those people that have had to stand in the queues at the SARS offices I hope your experience was as good as mine.

We stood outside for two hours (thank you to the kind gentleman that bought a few of us bottles of water) then we waited inside for a further three hours last night.

The camaraderie and great spirit of all the diverse cultures standing in that queue made the wait endurable and almost enjoyable. We were all united by our need to get our tax return in before the deadline and we made the best of it.

I have to commend the staff at the Bellville SARS office as they were absolutely amazing despite having to work until very late last night and I presume every night this week. I was amazed that they were so helpful and geared towards customer service and had so much patience with the hundreds of people they helped.

When I finally got out of there at 21:00 there were still over a hundred people and they had got to the point of cheering as the numbers were called. Who thought a five hour queue could leave you feeling so tired but so good?
