THE Gauteng ANC has diplomatically called on President Jacob Zuma to resign.
The KZN branch is outraged, and calls Gauteng mischievous. I thought democracy entitles everyone to an opinion. If they can’t be democratic with each other, how will they guarantee our democracy in government?
What is more important for the ANC to understand is that this call to remove Zuma will not go away. After the Nkandla upgrades, members of the public became outraged after hearing that their money was stolen. The ANC tried every trick in the book to spin the matter, and abused millions of our money defending presidential theft, and finally lost in the Constitutional Court.
Jeremy Guantlett QC charged R50 000 a day, we’re told, to advise on how to tell the truth.
The lesson from this to amateur spin doctors is that all the money in the world won’t be enough to hide a blatant lie. Nkandlagate refused to go away despite all these millions heaped on it.
The calls for Zuma’s head will also not go away, so why waste time and money again on a battle you’re not going to win?
We should also not be persuaded by threats of a revolt and political instability if Zuma leaves.
We gave our lives to free ourselves from apartheid, and we should do so to free ourselves from immorality and corruption.
This is the new struggle.
