Live a life of legacy

08 August 2012, 09:39

Sometimes we reach a cross roads in our life that stop us right in our tracks. No-one can tell you which way you should go but deep inside you, you know that if you choose one way your whole life will change. Suddenly you face a choice that will inevitably lead you to live a life that will leave a legacy.

If we look at historical figures and even people that live today there are certain character traits that help people to, first of all choose to live a life of legacy, and secondly be totally successful and fulfilled. Sadly not everyone choose to live like a legend. The question is, why? Why on earth will everyone not choose to live in harmony with their divine right to be happy and successful? If we look and legends in the past it is evident that usually, living a life of legacy comes with a price. The price typically involves self-sacrifice and unselfish displays. Not everyone is up for the challenge it brings.

So let us look at typical character traits that we can notice about people that have left a legacy.

Love has been the motivator from the beginning of man’s life. Love can flourish where there is no hope left. There is not much that one can say of love that hasn’t been said in the past. It has been the topic of poems, storybooks, music and the visual arts for many years. Love has a way of piercing through the needs of physical intimacy, sex and family. Have you ever been moved to show love to someone you have never met before? Well yes we all have. And we all show that love in different ways. If you live a life of legacy this type of all enduring love will be the instigator you need to use in order to change someone else’s life for the better.

Passion for people is undoubtedly the strongest force in the character of a legend. This attribute can help us to be committed to a cause that will change the way some live their life. People that are living a distressed life, whether it is caused by themselves, political oppression or natures destructive forces, need the help of other human beings. That is why people will leave the comfort of their houses and countries to go to places where houses and cities have been demolished. These people will use their own monetary resources to provide another human with something as simple as water to drink.

Obviously not all of us can fly around and provide relief where needed, but we in our capacity as a human can do something that will change someone else’s life forever. A good place to start is to become aware and conscious of the need in someone’s life. The goal is to look for opportunities to show that you care.

Love and passion are undeniably personality traits that you would need to make a difference in someone’s life. By doing so you will be able to align yourself with your own God given right to be happy and successful and leaving a legacy will become your reality.
