Love, Life and Laughter. YOLO

04 July 2014, 09:05
Here is the scene. It's Christmas eve in Braamfontein, The Pub called the Dogbox, Leon Wilson has just launched into the song, We've got to get out of this place, last rounds are called and an intrepid if rather inebriated young man gets two beers for the road, one for him and another for himself. He has nowhere to go but home to his flat with the two room mates, One he likes a lot, and the other a total slovenly slattern that irks him beyond belief.
Standing there at the pub he takes the first sip of a beer when an angel appears in his view and say's "I'll have that" and the second beer starts moving out of his reach, focusing on that beer he follows the Angel to a group of people, One of whom he know from the pub, He get's introduced to said larcenous Angel and her friend, Plans are made and it is agreed that we will take the girls to Kev's place, The young man would bring the Angel on his bike and follow Kev, The young man and Kev agreed that the first lights that turned red would allow Kev to continue on his merry way, and the young man would lose him and thus take the Angel back to his place.
The tale took an odd turn, The young man after nearly dropping his bike three times between where it was parked on the sidewalk and the road eventually was ready for the Angel to mount. She did and Kev pulled away with the young man following. The twist in the tale is that Between Lower Braamfontein and the R24 not one traffic light was not green. It was smooth sailing all the way to Kev's place. Kev got some, The young man did not. He did however take the Angel back home to the Northern suburbs and promised to visit her after having lunch with his family. When he arrived She was surprised that he even remembered her.
Cut to a few months later, They noved in together, split up twice, got back together and today, 23 years ago on the 4th of July 1991 they were wed. It was low key affair in the courts, The wedding night was spent on the road to Cape Town. There has been laughter, joy, sadness, two beautiful and bright children, There has been wealth, there has been poverty, health and sickness.
Today I have been married for 23 years to the love of my life, my soulmate, my happily ever after. There are a few things I would change if I could do it all over armed with the knowledge I have gained from the last 49 years, but the night of the stolen beer is not one of them. M you complete me, You make me whole again, I can fly only because you are mine, but you won't understand.
I love you.

Focus on what truly matters

“Never” is an infectious word, like a flu virus. Once you’ve caught it, everything loses its sparkle. It’s commonplace to hear people say and swear that they will never do, forget or say something. Read more...

What is the 'struggle'?

The article by Floyd Shivhambu on the absence of Dr. Blande Nzimande in the struggle is impressive in a highly qualified sense – the narrative and argumentation flow seamlessly to prove its point.  Read more...
