After this whole Lance Armstrong debacle, I thought to myself, why not make it legal? Why is it wrong? We know it’s bad. Shouldn’t we go back and name and shame everyone that was caught using drugs to enhance their performance? Shouldn’t we start scratching around in all the other sports from years ago? On Wikipedia it dates back to 1904 and from there on it just got worse.
It’s in all kinds of sports, in all countries; even equestrian and sailing in the Olympics were involved. What about chess? What about physical equipment enhancements, shouldn’t that be treated the same? My running shoes that I wore 15 years ago aren’t the same as the ones I bought the other day. Its light, better sweat absorption, comfortable, etc. Because I can afford a better shoe than the person next to me, with the same abilities, I’ll run better than him if we have the same training program, don’t you think it’s wrong and also cheating.
Inequality is everywhere, if you want to take the chance to die before forty by taking performance enhancing drug, why not go for it, it’s your choice. There won’t be any cheating anymore and wouldn’t this also be like self-selecting themselves out of the gene pool, like Darwin awards. So we will end up with the best any genes anyway. What do you think?
