Man found murdered

A man from Witfield was found murdered in his home on Saturday morning.

Pieter Hendrik Schalk Pieterse was hit with a blunt object to his head. It is speculated that he was surprised in his garage.

Police arrested a suspect who reportedly drove around in Pieterse's car, loaded with stolen goods. He drove into a wall and was arrested. From there police traced the car back to the house where Pieterse was found dead.

He was living alone in the house. He is survived by his two daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
