The most people who are well informed about marriage is people who have never married. This information creates excitement in woman and fear in men.
Most women are under pressure to marry due to the "biological clock", which men do not have. Men do not go in a relationship thinking marriage (not all men) but, they want the benefits of married people. Women have made things easy for unmarried men, cohabiting is a new trend which provides men with such benefits.
The fear of loosing freedom gives most men chills, marriage according to most men is one of the dream "killer", and they would rather achieve as single before committing. Knowing the real character of a person after marriage is the other problem. The "unmarried" perceive women as nagging and imprisoning and coming back to the same face everyday is not an option. Lack of money for lobola is the other reason why most men are not marrying.
Marriage is depicted as the end of life at times. Divorce experiences of friends or family members contribute to the delay of committing for some, even when they are not sure about what they heard. Most men think they are not marriage material, until they meet their match. If it was possible other men would remain single forever, but most would rather commit later in their lives.
As mentioned before, times have changed and cohabiting is a new thing, in the olden days culture placed pressure on a men and it was demanded that they do the "honourable thing".
In reality marriage is a natural step which any human being must take when they are ready.
