Sometime yesterday and again this morning I heard clips of Mathews Phosa on the radio sounding exactly like a DA party member, quoting an anti corruption rhetoric and shining a light on the most obvious failures on the ANC. Demanding change and accountability.
Then reading a whole bunch of comments by otherwise thinking individuals, ra-ra-ing the guy like he was the savior of SA.
He is not.
He is green, gold and black through and through. There was not one word that passed from his lips that was not ANC-NEC autherised. At Mangaung the ANC took a stance to disinvest Chancellor House from conflict of interest deals like the Hitachi generators (nevermind that another reason is Madupi is over-time, over-budget). Phosa is the party Treasurer, he would be directly responsible for taking that kind of action, which in the past 12 months he has not done. Now with an election looming he stands and says “We need to end corruption in ANC”. To that I shout back “Show me the evidence of your convictions.”
This is another deception by the ANC just like when Robert McBride walked into Magoo's and dropped off his parcel of liberation.
You cannot forget that this is the same party who brought us the secrecy bill, sees that there is opposition and an election looming; sends it back for review BUT only on certain sections and the review is given TWO days to start and finish their work.
And the headlines read "Zuma stops secrecy bill, all hail the master in chief!" Yay, secrecy bill is now no longer an election issue.
Phosa has exactly the same job as Mac Maharaj: Spin.
And if you applauded him for it, then you fell for the ANC lies in exactly the same way that the "masses" fall for a KFC boxmeal come election time.
Shame on you.
Zuma can afford to take some heat; he is safe in the seat till 2019. His purges have wiped out any resistance to his rule in the top seats. Even the volatile Winnie has been shut up by the rattling of a few skeletons in her closet.
Remember her dry humping Malema at the airport while waiting for Castor Simenya's plane to land, screaming "This man is the next leader of the ANC". Fast forward a few years, Malema fails to unseat JZ and Winnie has 20 year old murders investigated.
What happened to that particular investigation now that the old witch has bowed down to the spear?
So JZ shuts his mouth for a bit, makes some nice mumblings like not signing a secrecy bill - but with enough caveats that it has no real impact.
Gets a trusted ally to make some pleasant sounding rattling.
And the public sits back and applauds the show.
Well done SA, you truly get the government you deserve.
