Mbalula Must Resign

21 January 2014, 09:18

I wonder if Fikile Mbalula thinks his comments will help build pride amongst our soccer players. Look, lets face it, Bafana just don't seem to be very competitive internationally. But does this give the minister of sport the right to give such disgusting and prideless criticism. I hang my head in shame, I can only imagine how we are seen as a nation when our sports minister is so absolutely incredibly unprofessional. How can we have any pride with such a person in a senior position.

Imagine the Bokke getting that sort of criticism after our 48 - 0 thrashing by the Aussies a few years ago. It was horrible, but rugby bosses would never go as low as Mbalula did after this loss to Nigeria. What about all the Proteas failures to win big tournaments. We are very disappointed, but never criticise in the revolting way Mbalula lashed out at Bafana.

Lets just face it, our soccer isn't good. They're probably not even on the level of our hockey teams. So be it, whatever the cause. But do you really believe the players want to lose. The fans still turn out in force, even though their team is mediocre to plain bad. Its our countries team, its patriotism to support them.

I'm surprised opposition parties are tjoep still about Mbalula's embarrassing outburst. They care about all the other faults of the ANC regime, yet let this one go. Don't they care about our national soccer team?

There is a thing called constructive criticism. People like Mbalula only give destructive criticism. Bafana will be worse in the future due to this useless destructive person. How can any team develop any pride when its own sports minister is such a negative influence on their mindsets.

Resign Mbalula, it will be the honest thing to do, you are not professional enough for your fat salary and the responsibility it is meant to carry.
