I see that Susan Shabangu, after publicly saying that nationalization of the mines is not on the ANC's agenda, now wants mining CEO's to be held responsible for mine deaths.
I would like to put the following to her:
Firstly, why does she not then follow the sage advice of JuJu and nationalize them, that would put her in charge, thus responsible, and the problem would be solved as she seems to want to be in charge.
Secondly, does the esteemed minister really know how much mines spend on safety, worker education, preventative measures and how much stoppages cost these mines, and the economy, when some idiot injures, or kills, himself in spite of this?
Lastly, has she any real idea what she is talking about or is she just blowing off steam?
It would seem to me that the minister is caught between a rock and a hard place in that she doesn't want to nationalize as she surely knows that she, and her motley crew, couldn't run a mine if they tried but she also doesn't want to take responsibility for anything - again very much in keeping with what her and aforementioned motley crew usually end up doing.
Perhaps the minister would do us all a favour and just shut up, before she further worsens a situation already created by JuJu's mouthings-off.
