Herewith my pet peeve.
I love movies. The wife and I watch almost every new release and very rarely find a movie bad enough to be hauled to the town square for a public flogging.
Enter the movie critic.
Ok, I understand that it's your job to be critical of a movie but heck man. When I read half the 'reviews' on paper and screen I imagine them being written by some evil cackling agent of some dark realm sent to suck the life out of anything vaguely entertaining.
After reading reviews of summer popcorn movies like Transformers and Clash of the Titans one expects the worst movies in history.Alas, we are entertained nonetheless.
I don't go to movies like those expecting Oscar winning drama, I go expecting eye candy and explosions with maybe some hint of a story in there somewhere.(As do the masses of people who spend money on the tickets). If I want to watch drama, I watch drama.
What the heck man! You don't walk into a Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise and write a bad review because there was no Sushi on the menu!
Review the thing for what it is, compare apples for apples. Maybe you should hang out at the art cinema with the rest of the 'in the know' crowd and sip on Wine whilst nibbling on some cheese while you enjoy some new form of cinematic artistic expression with societies' hoity toity eccentrics..
In the end it is just someone's opinion and we all have those in good supply but why the heck are you watching movies if you don't enjoy them?
Maybe you should eat less 'wing of bat' and 'eye of newt' before you watch movies. (or would the critics coven disapprove?)
I dunno.Just a senseless rant from a movie lover who can't make sense of the drivel critics write.
I guess that makes me a movie critics critic.Mehh.
I would really love to read a review that actually takes into account the context of the movie and intended market instead of trying to fit every reviewed movie into some kind of Nouveau box!
