My Madiba moment

06 December 2013, 08:43

I was an orphan (mom died at age 7) dad died somewhere along that time. my grandmother adopted me legally in court. In 1994, October, the welfare came to my house and told us that my grandmother (70 at the time)) was too old to take care of me and needed to go to foster care. the NG church advised them. so was shattered and went everywhere (stayed off school for 2 weeks to try and make a plan to stay with my gran whom called MOTHER, she was all had) I wrote a letter to Oprah Winfrey but was scared she wouldn't as she's so far! failed as no one was interested. madiba became president that year, and decided to call him. called SABC lol and they ere like no we have his number. called again in an african accent pretending to be acousin. the lady asked: "aren't you te little girl who called earlier?" s cried bitterly and told my story. she immediately gave me the pemiers number. called ad got n address to the pesident's office. I wrote. speed posted  and got a swift reply to a that the northern province premier wll handle my case as Mandela is too busy and its of such a nature that I have to follow the channels. (I still have that letter. Just before that dreadful Friday, I stayed oFf from school and was going to pack and run away with my grandmother haha, a car stopped at our house, and then 4 othera. I got a fright and thought its the welfare. I hid away. And the domestic worker came running and screaming and just said Mandela!!!! And she fainted. He was in the kitchen already! He came to my grandmother and asked her "so mam what's wrong with you you're not 70 and too old (she looked VERY young) and then he went to the welfare, told them to not dare take me away and then went to the school as well. The headmaster at the time said why didn't I ask him he would have helped :) but anyway I was helped by the president himself and to this day the welfare never ever bothered us again and I will never go to that church again! Thanks Madiba!!!!!  my randmother pssed way when ewas 84 and I am what I am today because of her anD madiba!
