My South Africa

29 July 2014, 14:05
This is another version of My South Africa, due to the fact that I am proud of being a South African regardless of what, even with the critics I am to write as the contents of this article.
South Africans are afraid of pain and facing the struggle of developing to greater strength, hence always strategizing so as to make things easier, talk of Quantity vs. Quality of results. What matters most to South Africans and its government is the quantity and not the quality of the outcomes from what is being delivered to the people, while the quality is the drive force behind success.
This is reflected by two stories, 1. Dept. Basic Education and 2.SAFA.1. Dept Basic Education, since 2008, it was good of DBE to switch to NCS but the problem is, NSC was just never given enough time to be modelled and be fully funtional in such a way that the global assessors can assess us based on what we can produce, not on the number of matric graduates, the minute DBE switched its main mission on empowering the Quality of education, this led to the drop in the ranking of the global assessors on our system of education, because the more matric graduates we had, the easier the content became so as to few university entrants with less university graduates who really do make a mark in the South African education benchmark. What I am saying is, if NCS was strengthened and the matric graduate did not matter much, then at least, at least we would have had a qualitative results that put the education system competitive, due to not wanting to face the music, we rank to the low of the lowest in education system.
2. SAFA, soccer is one of those sporting codes that South Africans use to unite each other, why don't we ask ourselves why the other sporting codes excel and not soccer? It is because the coaches from those codes are given time to monitor and evaluate the team, and it is not about the trophies they bring to the country but the skills that the players get when playing, and the knowledge of the coach about their teams that they use to go and compete in very adverse conditions, but SAFA due to the obsession on the number of trophies and not putting SA on the mark, that is why we can have about 4 or 5 coaches in a president's term of office, while it does not acknowledge the local talent. Basically, there will never be a soccer team that represents South Africa, if we still expect trophies than the honor of the country and acknowledgement of the talent South Africa has.
It is the South Africa that is obsessed with numbers and not the quality, if South Africa changes to quality then, we as the citizens, can hope for a greater developed country as we are currently developing in a steady way though.
