New year of death in South Africa

18 January 2012, 11:41

We all celebrated the start of 2012, we made our resolutions and we prayed for a better year in general for all South Africans.  A couple of weeks down the line however, things remain the same.

While the entire country has been captivated by the media's excessive coverage of the "Modimolle Monster" case, the usual murder, mutilation, rape and barbaric behaviour has continued.  Here is the start of the new year in South Africa:

Jan 1

·         Teen stabbed to death, mutilated -

·         Girl (19) brutally raped, killed -

Jan 2

·         Farmer shot dead while changing tyre -

Jan 3

·         Man dies after mob justice attack -

·         Man killed by community, necklaced -

Jan 4

·         Modimolle man has wife gangraped, kills son –

Jan 5

·         Teacher stabs girl (3) to death -

·         Woman (86) murdered, breasts removed -

·         Man kills girlfriend, self -

Jan 6

·         Mob kills couple accused of witchcraft -

·         Tenant kills Soweto landlord -

·         Pat Joffe, 76, stabbed, left to bleed to death -

·         Man kills wife, self, in front of baby -

·         Woman (81) brutally beaten in retirement home -

Jan 7

·         Man accused of killing wife with pick -

·         Centurion woman (87) mutilated, murdered -

Jan 8

·         Man arrested for killing woman, 2 children (incl 9 month old boy) -

Jan 10

·         Mutilated man found on a hill -

·         Cops arrest man for raping girl -

·         Swedish tourists raped on East London beach -

Jan 12

·         Dad hangs son -

·         Girl kidnapped from outside church, raped -

·         Teacher (38) murdered in Eastern Cape -

·         Woman bites off rapists tongue -

Jan 14

·         North West farmer killed, family assaulted -

·         Two arrested for Eastern Cape killing -

Jan 15

·         Woman hacked to death by lover -

·         Jeffreys Bay woman clubbed to death by ex -

Jan 16

·         Cop shot dead in PE home -

This is just a fraction (between 1 - 2%) of what occurs on a daily basis.  Will there ever be any action by those who spends billions on centenaries, Land Rovers, Moet, 5 Star accomodation and other fruitless & wasteful expenditure?
