News24 too fast

13 June 2014, 05:00

Whether job reports from America, mining data from South Africa or a rich Arab prince scratching his butt, or any event even remotely connected the economy, you can be sure News24 will have an article about how the event in question will cause a weakening of the rand.

And when the “weakening” does happen, it’s barely worth mentioning. And considering that the rand is traded on an open market, these articles could very well be the cause of the “weakening”.

Wouldn’t it be more prudent for News24 to wait for an actual weakening before doing a story about it, maybe if there were fewer of these articles, the rand’s value might even improve
