No.1's 5 million jobs could be possible

19 June 2014, 09:26

Just read an article online at http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daily-ticker/a-controversial-way-to-create-10-million-jobs-205032050.html, which prompted this short writ.

Very interesting indeed what “out the box” thinking could accomplish. To the best of my knowledge, corporate tax in South Africa is pegged around 30%. Perhaps our government could lower a company’s tax by a few percentage points if they can prove that they employ current “unemployable” people. It will have numerous positive spin-offs like, reduced unemployment, increased spending power of the newly employed, and increased education/training of a previously unskilled/unemployable person.

How many jobs could this create?

It seems to me that every time the Rand is doing well, there is some announcement from the Presidency or the NPA that sends the currency into free fall or generates a strong rally. Read more...

SA’s political future: a message ...

While some credit opposition parties for eating into the ANC pie, I tend to side with the theory which suggests that the ANC lost support not because of strong opposition but due to perceptions of bad governance. Read more...
