Exert from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Evita"
I figured was quite appropriate.
Oh what a circus, Oh what a show! South Africa has gone to town, over the death of an icon called Nelson Mandela!
We've all gone crazy, mourning all day and mourning all night, falling over ourselves to get all,of our misery right!
Oh what an exit! that's how to go!When they're ringing you're curtain down, demand to be buried like Nelson Mandela.
It's quite a sunset!and good for the country in a round about way.we've made the front pages of all,the worlds papers today!
But who is this Santa Madiba? Why all this howling, hysterical sorrow?what kind of God has lived among us?How will we ever get by without him?
He had some moments, he had some style, the best show in town was the crowd, outside the Pretoria Heart crying "Viva Madiba"
But that's all gone now,as soon as the smoke from funeral clearswere all gonna see and how! He's been dead for years.
You've let down your people Madiba, you were supposed to have been immortal, that's all they wanted, not much to ask for
But in the end, you, did not deliver!
This exert was based on the life and times of Argentina's Eva Peron or "Evita" as she was fondly referred to by the crowd. the first lady and wife to Dictator Juan Peron. She has may have so much in common with this man its frightening, She was an icon and seen to be starlet in her own right. But she simply accomplished nothing.
The irony doesn't escape me since everyone seems to have lost their minds over this expected death. Again, What, were those four painfully obnoxious weeks back in June - July not enough?
Truth is, the spectacle that those weeks created has truly dulled the impact of what would have been a seriously sad moment in our history. Instead of proper mourning, we have government taking advantage, Instead of a dignified family response, we had his brat grandson run a mock. Am I supposed to care now that its finally happened?
