Reading through jobs being advertised, I noticed so many that mention “Only Christians need apply”
Here is a couple I have stumbled on;
I require a nanny for full housekeeping duties and to take care of a 2 year old boy.
Must be of sober habits.
Good Christian values
Must speak English fluently.
35 and older females only
This is a live in position - Mondays to Fridays
Must have prior experience.
Andrea Yates was very religious, she drowned 5 of her children in a bathtub, she decided to kill her children to save them from hell, so she send them to Jesus instead.
Does this mean that the person that apply for this position can proof that they have “good values?” or do you simply have to say you are a Christian? So was Andrea Yates, her Christian values was the reason she gave detectives for drowning her children, and it also does not exclude her from suffering from mental illness, because she did suffer from depression and is mentally unstable. Any Christian can apply for this position, because apparently being Christian makes you superior to other people and also excludes the possibility that you might, suffer from mental illnesses.
Let any Christian therefore take care of our children, paedophiles will say just about anything, I bet they love these ads.
There are plenty of positions advertised for nannies; almost all of them require you to have good Christian values or to be Christian, atheists and people that follow other religions need not apply, because you don’t have good values apparently.
Make no mistake; job seekers also make use of the “Good little Christian value” idea, posted under jobs wanted sections.
Here is a good employee, she is Christian and you don’t have to ask anymore questions, the Christian word explains it all.
Wanted; House keeping or day care

I am not saying that the wanted ads for people seeking employment are deceiving, I am simply making a point, that if you say the word Christian; you don’t need to say more, it sells itself, does being a Christian really make you so special?
Let us look at some more “freedom of religion’ job ads, shall we?
Admin assistant required
Admin assistant required for a Christian construction company based in Ottery
E mail cvs only

What is a Christian construction company?
Do they only take on clients that are Christians; do they decline to do business with non Christians; or does it mean you have to be a Christian to work there, and they pay your salary by doing business with anybody that could also be atheists, Buddhist ext. Do they ask clients what religion they are before doing any business with anyone, or do they construct only holy things? What does this mean?
Here is another one.

Well, well – The best sales executive in the world can apply for this job, but if you are an atheist, or anything but Christian, you won’t get the job, apparently only Christians have values, funny thing about this ad is that the employer requires his employees to also work on a Sunday (9am to 5 pm)? Is that not a holy Christian day, so you have to be a Christian but your boss keeps you out of church. lol
This is a perfect example of a hypocrite. Who does not know what the word “contradicting” means, this employer, right here.
Another holy job in SA

In a country that has a government pleading for job creation, crime rate that is sky high and deal with unemployment issues, you narrow it down a little more, and insist on Christians only. South-Africa the rainbow nation, diversity of religion is very much part of what we are, yet these companies posts advertisement for Christians only?
Do yourself a favor, read through Gumtree or any other website that advertises jobs in SA, type in “Christian” and search, the result is unbelievable! I removed the links provided in the first attempt to get this article posted, hope this one will be. These ads are all on Gumtree currently.
I think we need to take this problem up with government. If they want to shout “rainbow nation” we say, yes! Let us shout rainbow nation and freedom of religion, it goes hand in hand.
Christians accuse atheists of superiority complex, misleading people, they say they don’t force their religion down in any way, their religion does no harm, I have just added discrimination to the list you deny so blatantly.
This is one example of so many that clearly shows you are wrong, religion does not belong anywhere but, in your private home and inside your church – take the billboards inside as well please.
Section 6 of the Employment Equity Act (EEA) prohibits unfair discrimination against an employee on arbitrary grounds. One of these grounds is that of religion. This means that no employer is entitled to discriminate against an employee or applicant for employment purely on the grounds of the employee's religion.
