Only in the Department of Correctional Services...

28 July 2014, 10:20

In normal situations whenever and wherever any employee finds himself in a situation where he or she, is being suspect of having committed a transgression in the line of his or her duties and employee would have the right to interact and take the necessary disciplinary procedures that are relevant to the transgression and in line with the regulatory acts in each and every instance.

Internal investigations into the transgression would be handled by individuals that are not directly connected to the transgressor or even outside investigators would be mandated to investigate and handle the situation to provide a sound, fair and free finding on the matter which would and or could not be challenged as being biased and or prejudice to the individual which may be challenged in a labour court as being unconstitutional and or prejudice.

Yet within the circumambient ambit of the Department of Correctional Services, and investigation into the conduct and actions of an employee to determine the transgression and or misdemeanour is being conducted by the individuals sub-ordinate, whom has to come up with a fair and free investigation, yet the person whom he is investigating is that one to whom he would normally report to as a supervisor and or senior.

How can such an investigation in any way be considered to be fair, fair and just, and how can it be expected of a subordinate to actually investigate his or her superior in any way. Such a decision can only be described as ludicrous, and was taken to with a solid knowledge that the outcome would be manipulated in favour of the person that are being investigated.

To what levels the Department would next stoop too, whenever it wants to determine an outcome and or investigation in the manner and decorum that it wants it to be, is astonishing to say the least taken the history of its actions in matters currently being investigated and or prevailing.

To protect, act dubiously in no way, is representative of good; accountable and clean governance and the Department of Correctional Services should refrain from acting in ways which is not only questionable to say the least but also evidentiary of factionalism, cronyism, and nepotism when the shoe fits.
