Open letter to South African political leaders.

11 May 2014, 18:00
Dearest leaders of South Africa.

I trust that if you are reading this, that you read it in good health and that your health shall remain good for a long time.

I am a humble South African who loves his nation. I am writing to you now with an absolute heartfelt plea.

Please stop what you are doing as my nation is bleeding. My brothers and sisters are bleeding. They don't have the money to buy food, so they are reduced to take it from those who do. They sell their souls for bread. They illegally take up residence on the lands of their brothers because they do not have the means to acquire their own.

What do you do while your brothers and sisters bleed? You fight among yourselves for petty reasons and you forget that you are there to serve your brothers and sisters of this nation. You call each other names, you  stab each other in the back, you seek to divide what should be made whole. Instead of healing your nation you seek to make it bleed even more, so please stop before we are bled dry and all that is left is the tired, empty husk of what once was the greatest nation that man has ever seen.

Stop trying to tell us that we are different, because in what it really matters we are not. I just want a better life for myself and my future children and their children...show me one of my brothers or sisters who do not want the same. I just want to go to bed at night without the worry that I am safe, show me a single brother or sister who does not want the same. I just want a life where I can be happy, so show me how I differ from my brother and sisters who bleed with me as you squabble for petty reasons among yourselves.

You forget yourselves, you are not kings and queens whose word is law, but instead you are leaders there to serve selflessly for the betterment of all our brothers and sisters.

South Africa is bleeding and you are too busy to notice. So stop what you are doing and lead us out of this grave that is being dug right under our feet. Learn from your mistakes and the ones you made by your peers. Stop trying to divide our nation along lines of race, religion and culture. I am growing tired of driving past my brothers and sisters on the streets, begging for anything that I can spare because it breaks my heart as I do not have enough to spare anything. Give my brothers and sisters a future by leading instead of fighting.

Yours truly.
