Funnily not everyone wants to speak about this openly, I can’t help but question if his skin colour has anything to do with it, it might and it might not but before we conclude our judgement as the public let’s look at the facts that were reported:
“A resident said her body was found in the bathroom. Steenkamp apparently was shot four times: in the head, chest, pelvis and hand”
Shooting someone once or twice might be a mistake, how do you explain four times, for someone who has training with guns and knows the law, I find this rather interesting that we should still say it was an accident.
According to the Fire Arm's Act: the intruder must make the first step. Your life should be in danger. No other means available besides.
In this case Steenkamp was in the bathroom, door closed, now I ask how was Oscar’s life in danger?
“Beukes's comments that there had been "previous incidents of a domestic nature at his place" were widely reported on.”
Speculations have it that violence is nothing new with Oscar Pistorius, it is starting to be clear that this was no mistakes, we were fooled by the media as a public to having believed that this was all a mistake and an accident.
“The Star reported in November last year that charges of defamation were laid against Pistorius after he allegedly had a fight with a man his girlfriend began dating.
The incident allegedly happened after Pistorius returned from the London Olympic Games.
Enraged by jealousy, he allegedly threatened to break the legs of the other man involved. A charge of defamation was laid against him.”
"The SA Police Service were just as surprised... to hear on the radio that allegations had been made that the deceased had been perceived to be a burglar," police spokesperson Brigadier Denise Beukes said.
A lot of Newspaper tried to protect him, they disabled the comments saying that some comments were un-called for, again I ask had it been a different race, would the same treatment be given, again it is just a question. A lot of people were emotional; I was one of those as well, until all the facts were slowly released.
We need to be realistic as people, violence is violence and it has no colour, a young woman was murdered and as a nation we are not blinded by that fact, a life has been taken, this is someone best friend, mentor, role model fact remain a life has been taken and Oscar should not be treated any differently. Let people comment, let them talk about this.
Again in all our comments let us not be insensitive, someone life has been taken let’s take into consideration that there is a family that is grieving.
“If you practised, I think you could be pretty deadly.” Oscar says to Michael Sokolove in an interview”
