This is a very short; all I’d like to do is ask two questions. Now I know that hindsight gives one 20/20 vision but to my knowledge no one has asked these questions. The questions don’t go towards the main charge that Oscar is facing but rather to two of the lesser charges.
What if the police did confiscate Oscar’s gun, as Nel said he was entitled to do, when they were on the way back from the Vaal? I’m sure he would have had to appear in court to get it back and the court could have decided that he should not have had a license for said gun.
With the discharge of the firearm in the restaurant same thing. What if it was reported at the time? He would have had to appear in court and face the same possibility of losing his license.
Maybe if this happened then Oscar would not have had a gun or he would have become more responsible with it. Now I know the world is not perfect and this did not happen but maybe one day it could have.
