Anyone who knows Oscar Pistorious and the achievements he gas made in the Olympics was exceedingly shocked after hearing that he’s been arrested and also charged with murder. The fall of the icon not only symbolizes the tragedy of the nation but repels the good reputation the world has for this country.
An illustrious Paralympic athlete like Oscar has made South Africa to become a better country in sport standings as he has won Gold medals, making him a friend of South Africa through his good work for the nation.
The whole world is eager to know the outcome of this case and very much concerned about Oscar’s career in sports and whether or not he will still compete for the Olympics, sadly if not it’s a great loss for South Africa as no other athlete holds the capacity to raise the flag high as Oscar did. We’ve all washed our hands on Oscar but have we really searched our conscience in this matter before concluding?
Let’s not judge but let’s embrace ourselves with the law’s proceedings. He is a friend of South Africa and not an enemy for that matter, for whatever happens, validly there is a reason.
If this is a way we treat a friend then I’m afraid there is no remorse left in this country, some other opportunistic campaigns will gladly use the Oscar issue to illustrate women abuse and killing instead of using an ordinary South African, this is wrong. The death of Reeva should be respected.
There is currently an overwhelming support for the athlete and under no circumstances must the people be against that support.
