Oscared-out

16 April 2014, 09:11

While all murders are distressing and deplorable, making an epic, public show out of it, is truly disgusting. How anyone, in his/her right mind, can listen or even actively follow episodes of the piss stories trial is beyond me.

I have given up smoking, drinking, and TV, years ago. (In that order.) Being a slave to anything addictive, is not my cup of tea. I avoid following any of the media’s feeding-frenzies; which seem to have become a worldwide phenomenon. Mandela’s death, the death of the batteries of the dead black box of the dead flight MH370’s dead passengers, the death of Reeva, the death of Humpty Dumpty and Cock Robin, it just goes on and on…

I get my daily dose of the news from listening to it on the radio – and from various sources on the Internet. In all of this time, I have read not even one single article on Oscar’s trial. I have obviously seen plenty of photographs on the Internet of his court appearances – puking in plastic buckets of various colours, crying, holding his head in his hands, snot running from his nose, etc, etc. Bloody unavoidable.

But just listening to short snippets of the piss stories that are reported on radio news, makes me feel like screaming: “Please, milady, just shoot me! I cannot stand listening to whining from this little shit anymore!”

It would seem as if shooting a toilet door is a bigger crime than stealing R246 million from the taxpayers. And everyone you talk to has suddenly become a legal expert.

I have long ago decided that I need worry only about the things I can control. The things I really care about. All the rest is a waste of time and effort.

No matter what the outcome of the Staged Piss Stories Trial, it is all just another TV soapie – designed to draw the sheeple’s attention away from their humdrum, monotonous existences. Like Dallas or 7de Laan.

My heart goes out to the families of those affected by this tragedy and who have become involuntary puppets in the show.

And to those who have nothing better to do than to watch and talk about this spectacle.
