Our crumbling society

I actually wrote this a while ago, submitted twice and it never got published..... So here we go again 
Dear Mr President 
Today, being a few days after Freedom Day, I would like to thank you for everything you have done for this country. From the obvious misappropriation of money designated for necessary causes to your encouragement of blatant disregard for the law, clearly visible to all by your very own conduct.
Thanks to this and the way the country is steadily steering out of control under your governance, I realised with shock today what monsters you have caused most of us as citizens to become. You have made us so distrustful of everyone around us, that we have lost our compassion and faith in humanity to such an extent, that I couldn't bring myself today to open a car window and give some change to a small street child because I was scared of what his intentions could have been. 
What the heck JZ, you have made us scared of helping children. Children who should have never been on the street if your social welfare system was working properly, but you are so busy stuffing your back pockets and building your retirement city, which of course you cannot be held accountable for since you never asked for it. Well guess what, neither did that small boy. He did not ask to be born into a society in which he will never have a roof over his head, always have to wonder when next he will get something to eat, and not know what it is like to have to go to school on a Monday and already look forward to a weekend. He will never get to celebrate a public holiday with family because survival is more important to him than being able to be a child. 
But his freedom means nothing to you because you clearly have your own present and future sorted. Sorted with money that should have made it possible for this little boy to have a future and to be given the opportunity to achieve something in life. Instead he will never reach his potential and instead grow up fostering a hatred towards the very society that failed him as a child. So again, i would like to thank you. 
Thank you so much for making me doubt the intentions of an 7 year old.
