Platinum pay dispute

20 May 2014, 22:00
Anglo American Platinum CEO Chris Griffith said earlier this week that comparisons should not be made between the salaries of educated, skilled executives and workers with few or no skills and limited education.

"Am I getting paid on a fair basis for what I'm having to deal with in this company?" Griffith was quoted as saying in the Business Day newspaper.

"Must I run this company and deal with ...all this nonsense for nothing? I'm at work. I'm not on strike. I'm not demanding to be paid what I'm not worth."

I think this the reality and its true that you get paid on the value of your job and your education level, that is why you find young school graduates come in and earn more than me by a huge gap ,although I have 20years working.

Not everybody can be a CEO. It takes only a few hours to get general to work underground but with a CEO, its a different story. I don't undermine our contribution to these companies but we cannot compare ourselves with CEOs.

They are paid a lot of money, its too much but its an international trend, there is nothing we can do about it.
