Please, no more (Atheists vs Christians) part 2

28 December 2012, 12:07
So yesterday I made the request for folks to stop posting their religious articles. This wasn't very popular amongst the religious who accused me of wanting to censor their beliefs. It didnt go down well with the atheists too, who believe that they are winning the battle, and that I am part
of a conspiracy trying to silence their voices. Strange how quickly the religious and the atheists jumped on the martyr card. Also strange the assumptions made by some of the atheists about my own personal beliefs, even though I never indicated any of these. Just goes to show that its not just the religious folks that can make an assumption, and then call it fact.

And whats with the atheists? Somehow they think they are all scientifically superior to everyone else. Just because you believe in evolution, doesnt mean you have a genius level IQ dude.

First of all, religion is a non-factor when it comes to the problems we have in South Africa. If we compare religion in South Africa to a few other countries (Isreal, Egypt), then you will soon realise that religion plays no part in any strives we may have. Tutu even organises regular inter-faith events. More critical issues would be the racial divide, the wealth inequality, education, cultural differences and now threatening our country from the other side of the world, the fiscal cliff.

Secondly, this is news24, not religion24. If I "cant stand the heat" (the kitchen quote was used quite abit yesterday), then it doesnt mean I have to find another forum to comment on, it means that you are in fact, not exactly where you are supposed to be.

Thirdly, why use the 'just dont read it' rebuttal, when you are in fact saturating news24 with all your articles on your specific religious view? If I dont know about your religion by now, then Ive been living on a cave on mars since birth, with my ears and eyes firmly closed. Same with the atheists, the theory of evolution was first discussed in the 18th century. Quite a good couple of years before you suddenly made the realisation and now feel the personal need to tell everyone about it. And no, Im not gaining anything insightful from your 'brilliant' comment, even though you have said the same thing two days ago, and then last week again.

Fourth, you are using arguments that have been googled thousands of times in the past. The same arguments that have been discussed since the dawn of mankind. Do you suddenly have new insight that nobody knows about? And really now, your opinion does not change the opinion
of anyone else. Im not going to read a news24 user-submitted article and suddenly change my life. More realistically, I would have researched the topic by myself, and drawn my own conclusion in the end. No, I dont need you to save me from my sins or my ignorance.

Please can someone just give these 'heroes' with the throng of religious articles and comments under their names their medals for keeping us all alive in this ever-important battle for our souls (or lack thereof). May these brave Don Quixote's slay their dragons!
