I experienced a torrid time on this forum yesterday when I brought up the issue of America being under-pinned by God and that FACT that the top countries in the world have all had one thing in common, that being God.
Even if God was not in the original American constitution*, is it not preferable to give citizens a CHOICE regards religion? How many countries try and FORCE religion on their citizens? I won’t name and shame them, but we know who they are.
In America most of the states have their youth recite the Pledge of Allegiance in the morning. It is a beautiful verse:
“I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
and to the Republic for which it stands,
one nation under God, indivisible,
with Liberty and Justice for all.”
I strongly suggest that South Africa follows our example as it has worked for America.
I recommend that the first part of your national anthem will do:
“God Bless Africa
We thy children and thy flock
In all our endeavors Bless
Africa, our family, God Bless Africa”
Imagine every child in Africa stating this pledge every morning, with their hands across their hearts. How much stronger, more focussed and just old-fashioned Godly you will all become.
* President Ronald Reagan famously added the God part, after he managed to stare down the atheist monster that was Russia.
