Which is the bigger devil?
I find myself in two minds regarding the incident which took place in Braamfontein yesterday.
On the one side you have a powerful trade union who is trying to make things better for the majority of the unskilled South Africans out there, who happens to be black and whom I applaud. I've written letters of encouragement to COSATU even though I am not affiliated with them in any way.
On the other side you have the biggest opposition party who is also trying to make things better, but for the majority of South Africans as a whole, a party whom I've supported in the local and national elections, not out of choice, but simply because they are the biggest opposition party out there.
Both 'struggling' [sic] towards the same goal, but with no common ground because of certain pre-conceptions and distrust.
In one of the pictures taken and published on News24 one can see the slogan "HIV-AIDS, better than the DA" on one of the posters carried by a COSATU member and I can't help but wonder how it is possible that someone could say such a thing?
Have we really skidded back so far as a society that we are blind to the alternatives around us?
COSATU has aligned itself with the ANC, and everyone knows that as an organization that they have big pull in the ANC led Misgovernment [sic]; so why I wonder, would you keep on aligning yourself with a political party which has failed miserably to better the lives of the destitute and the poor who is also the biggest voter base for this specific party?
Why not get a new partner and see if things might not go better?
Then there is the DA, who deliberately went and picked a scuffle with the Trade Union. Why the "show of force" with the march down to the headquarters of COSATU? Did the organisers really think that the march will be uneventful and peaceful?
Anyone with half a working brain cell could have foreseen issues, except maybe the SAPS which from reports, were slow to act when the whole situation went to south.
Maybe the puppet masters of the DA knew, and maybe puppet masters of COSATU knew, and maybe they didn't, but from where I am standing both these power houses in South African politics have failed their supporters by pitting them against each other which escalated in violence, perpetrated against each other ... puppets who really believe that those in control have their best interests at heart.
So, to answer the question "Which is the bigger devil?" I would say that both are one in the same, the devil ... something associated with evil and darkness, something that could mean the downfall of our young Democracy
What will the face of revolution look like?
Well we wont know for sure, all I can say is that I hope neither the DA nor COSATU gets involved...
