Porn for the virtuous: Parental controls not always enough

17 February 2014, 10:22
* trigger warning: although the content in this piece is considered 'factual' by many, it might shock. Not for the faint hearted...

There's this collection of pornographic material, only, it's not considered to be porn. It's found in approximately 70% of South African houses. It reached South Africa in print form ages ago, but might also have reached our country earlier before colonialisation through oral (no pun intended) tradition. Regardless, this book is widely accessible to most South Africans, regardless of culture, race or class. This very special type of porn is in fact introduced to little children at a very early age, often without supervision, and without parents or experts providing context (or even knowing the context).

I call it a 'special type of porn', for reasons which might become obvious once I've shared one of the 'erotic' tales relayed in this collection - a tale supposedly based on facts. See, there was this town, occupied by very promiscuous people. These people were considered evil. Sluts. Then there was this very conservative, straight laced dude - our hero. Two men came to visit our hero. These two men were said to have had supernatural abilities - they were not from this earth.

While the men were exchanging pleasantries, the house was surrounded by other men. They were shouting at the host, telling him to send out his guests, so that they could have intercourse with them - hot gay sex. It's not certain whether the men outside intended to rape, or merely try their luck in seeking consentual sex. Our host didn't ask. He just did as a good host and honourable citizen should: He protected his guests against the homosexual threat, and out of generosity offered his two virginal daughters to the men outside to do with as they please instead. And possibly curb their homosexual desires, how kind. Because obviously, telling the pervs to piss off would be rude. And it would be too much for our host to ask his guests with their super powers to help protect the two girls against potential rapists. And who the fuck locks their doors when being vulnerable to attack?Obviously never at the cost of pimping your own daughters. But these thugs refused this unbelievable offer, how rude!

In order to repay their host for his kindness, his guests offered to help him and his family flee this sketchy town without door locks, where men begged other men for sex and turned down virgins. However, on their way out of town, something really odd happened to the host's wife: she stopped moving and breathing. However, she wasn't considered dead. Maybe because women hardly had a funtion back then, other than producing heirs. No working limbs needed, especially not after her wively duties had been fulfilled. But since there were no medical doctors to examine the petrified wife, and since our hero couldn't be arsed with the mother of his children, he continoud with his journey, along with his two daughters. They eventually parted from their guests, and fled for the mountains.

And what happened next makes the movie 'Blue lagoon' seem like a nursery rhyme. Although they took a lot of alcohol with them, the two girls got bored - I mean what on earth could be more dull to two hot blooded teenagers than to be stranded in the middle of nowhere with a lonely, 'virtuous' old man who hallucinated about men with super powers, and who probably couldn't even wipe his own arse. To make things worse, and to keep the alcohol flowing, the daughters became kind of broody, and maybe they also wondered what it was like to have sex. Who knows? Fact is, the women realised that their chances at finding men were now impossible, and they thought having a baby each would distract them from daddy's tedious company. Thus, one day whilst being intoxicated, each girl had sex with daddy and got pregnant. Let's hope there was enough alcohol to numb their gag reflexes. Or if not, that they were cheap drunks.

Don't be so shocked people, this is the kind of reading material most of your kids are exposed to. If you don't stock it at home, they are still likely to find it at school, at a friend's house, or at a place where 'good people' go once a week. Even more disturbing, all the parental controls on earth can't stop them from finding it, since no internet is needed!  But most of you would point out that I have a nerve retelling this crap. Whenever your kids tell you that they'll be participating in any activity connected to this porn collection, many of you pat yourselves on the back, commending your own parental skills, thinking your kids are in good hands. How dare I disillusion you?

No bloody wonder we live in a society where fathers rape their daughters, and homosexuality is regarded lower than rape. No wonder corrective rape is out of hand, and 'good people' slut shame women seeking help when being abused. No wonder we have people in positions of authority encouraging women to have children they can't take care off, telling them their lives would be worthless without. No wonder women make such poor choices in romantic partners, and end up not being able to have sex without being drunk. No wonder so many people don't acknowledge the existance of spousal rape, and that many regard sex only as a means to an end - the end not being fun but pregnancy. In a nutshell: No bloody wonder South Africa pisses on its own women's rights.

People, start reassessing materials you consider to be teaching 'virtues' carefully and check the books your kids read.  Careful who you leave them with, carefull who you marry or date and careful where you seek help. Steer clear from 'ancient wisdom' because many things that applied a thousand years ago might now land you in jail. That is in a just society, off course...

* the person able to guess the source of this 'erotic tale' gets a smiley face...
