As I reflect on the past almost two decades of ANC rule I can't but wonder what has happened to the "Rainbow Children"? In 1994 we were promised that the new dispensation in South Africa would change our lives forever, sadly it didn't qualify in which direction it would be. Mostly we dreamed that it would be for the better and that after two decades we would have a significant number of young South Africans that had been schooled together and even some that had undertaken higher education together. The pre-natal stage of our promised democracy held all in high expectation of things to come but here we are today the expectant majority being totally and utterly disappointed with the outcome. The post-natal reality is that the birthing of a new democracy turned out to be an abortion gone wrong. Every day without failure we are subjected to news of fraud, corruption, rape, murder and criminals heading up our police and defence departments. They are mostly cadres who have been deployed based on ethnicity or allied to our President who is certainly no example to the youth of our or any country for that matter. The manner in which he spends taxes paid by the bleeding few in our economy on his own pleasures or legal fees to keep him from being held accountable for his deeds is disgusting. We have millions of people who have nothing, no future, no hope and only empty promises, mostly made by the ruling party who are still blaming a government from 20 years ago for the woes of today. Well if the ANC are incapable of improving the lot of these souls in two decades God forbid what will take place should they be voted in for another term and perform anywhere near as uselessly as they have to date!!!
